Purchasing Fresh Unbleached A/P & Bread Flour in Colorado

Toast

Has Anyone worked with or purchased unbleached-AP or Unbleached-Bread flour from "Grains From The Plains"?  Since I've moved to Denver a decade ago I've had difficulty purchasing modest quantities (20-50 lbs.) of flour locally.  Any & all suggestions would be greatly appreciated

As for "Grains From The Plains",  The owner (Laura) personally mills flour from local farmers and meets customers on specific days in Centennial and another location just off Arapahoe & Holly.

Hi Neil,

Earlier in the Pandemic I bought a bunch of flour from Grains from the Plains and I've been happy with what I purchased... However, as far as I'm aware they only offer whole wheat flour.  As far as purchasing bread and AP I've been just getting 5lb bags from the grocery.   I recently made an order from Central Milling for some specialty flours (pizza, medium rye, and their bread flour) and they are currently having a 25% off sale for their 25lb bags of AP.  After shipping it works out to be close to $1/lb.  I realize this still isn't a super deal nor is it local but it's something.  I would also recommend the restaurant supply stores.  If you're willing to travel a bit I'm aware of Family Baker: https://www.familybaker.com/ I've never shopped there but she seems to source organic flour/berries from large farms in the general region.  Getting super local, there's Butte Mill Flour which I think you can purchase at Cure Farms in Boulder.  You may also be able to purchase flour from Black Cat Farmstand in Boulder. https://blackcatboulder.com/

Ardent Mills is a giant corporate mill that has a location in Denver if that's what you're looking for... I think you can buy their flour at Costco.

If you happen to find any other small farms in the area offering flour, please let me know.
